Blog Contest Winning Attributes

Why Tree Line? First off, it showed how I could combine two very different, highly contrasted colors of yarn.  Second, I thought the silver/green Pixie by Dragonfly would work perfectly as the “tree” section of Jenessa’s pattern design.  She describes the shawl:

I grew up near the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and they still hold a special place in my heart. Every year, as we drove up the winding roads looking for the perfect picnic and camping spots, I would keep my eyes peeled on the tree line. It was a magical place where it snowed in July and mountain goats defied gravity. The harsh conditions meant the trees could no longer grow, but there was beauty in that barren landscape.

I knew this was a winning design when I rushed to finish my current scarf so I could cast on Tree Line.

Current Knitting

As noted above, I did finish knitting the latest Knitted Cross Stitch Scarf.

I’m thrilled with how it turned out and love the color combination of these two yarns. After blocking, it will end up being about 5″ wide and about 70″ long

I’m also thrilled with how beautifully the winning shawl suggestion has started!

I’ve only completed 11 rows so far, but it seems like the PERFECT pattern for the PERFECT yarn.  Can you envision how beautiful those emerald greens on a backdrop of silver will look like evergreens on a snowy mountainside?  I know. Me neither until Amy suggested this pattern.
