Merry Fucking Xmas – 2020
It’s the first day of Hanukkah and two weeks from Xmas, 2020. Merry fucking Xmas and happy holidays to all those celebrating.
Happy Fucking Hanukkah and Merry Fucking Xmas To All
2020 has been a weird year. No?
It’s been so disruptive to anything traditional.
Yes, there have been many blessings. I’ve met people through Zoom meet-ups I never would have met. We elected a sane president. I’ve had the opportunity to clarify the value of life. Little things like that.
But much of that seems to be overridden by those things I can’t do. Foregoing Thanksgiving. Not getting to celebrate Xmas with family and friends. Eating out at restaurants. Safely wandering through Costco and my local grocery store. Meeting up with friends in-person. Practicing Breema. Attending the Men’s Knitting Retreats.
Yes, I miss much of that.
This year has also pointed out how fucked up a large part of our country is. The millions of people that voted for the worst person on the planet. The hateful politicians that are licking his balls. The damage to the very core of all that is patriotic and right (in my mind). The rift between people.
Yes, it has done a good job of separating the wheat from the chaff in the people I know. I have no qualms about letting go of the willfully ignorant and the hateful. It’s almost like this political environment makes them glow radioactive green. Providing a clear warning to steer clear.
Interestingly, I don’t miss the haters in my life. It’s been very satisfying to purge them.
I do miss the real-life connection to the people I love. But hopefully, we’ll have that back in a few months.
Until then, I hope your holidays are as satisfying as humanly possible.
Current Knitting
Thank you to all who guessed which design I am working on.
Many of you guessed correctly. It’s the Seven-Up Koigu Scarf. I’m using a yarn that doesn’t seem to be in the Ravelry database. It’s called Delish by Decadent Fibers (100% Superwash Merino fingering weight yarn).
I’ve completed 2 repeats (out of the 7…the pattern is chock-full of sevens). This yarn is beautiful and soft and I’m enjoying reacquainting myself with this fun pattern design.
Feedback Response
Thank you all who provided feedback in the brutally honest blog entry. For many of you, this is in response to your critiques.
Love this guys…Finn will never not be a joy for me.
Definitely agree with you on the biggest narcissist on the planet!
Great photo of Finn. And the Grinch!
The Zoom meet-ups have been a gift.
Survive the Season.
Merry Christmask! Take care x
That’s an AWESOME holiday wish! Thanks for that.
For the first time in 4 years my shoulders are relaxing and my breathing easier. Much to look forward to in 2021. Georgia senate crucial crucial.
How royal Finn looks! I love when he makes a blog appearance.
The exit of ignorance and hatred from our lives is never a bad thing but always seems to come down to a struggle. It comes down to choice—to tolerate and hope to educate or to jealously guard peace and calm at the cost of not pleasing everyone. Watching you seek out and engage the other side has been a learning experience, one I would not have pursued on my own. Thank you.
Merry Christmas dear Grinch!
