Knit Fold Pleat Repeat
Blog reader Jeanette from Ontario sent me a book suggestion. And I took her suggestion and bought Knit Fold Pleat Repeat by Norah Gaughan.
Book Review – Knit Fold Pleat Repeat by Norah Gaughan
Abrams seem to publish knitting books that I find visually very attractive. This one is no exception. There is a consistency in style when I compare the photographs and color palette with the designs by Gaughan.

“I just ran across a new knitting book and instantly thought of you. It is by an Asian-America knit designer who has a very interesting take on what the possibilities of knitting can be. She mixes rectanguler pieces of knitting with Origami and produces wonderful designs for scarves, cowls, jackets, sweaters….
I saw her “Pinion Cowl” and thought it would be right up your alley using variegated sock yarn and a design that no one else at any craft fair would have seen before.
I am not associated in ANYWAY with this book or writer, just someone who saw a interesting design you might be interested in. It’s just a way to give back for the years of enjoyment I have had from your blog.
It is “Knit, Fold, Pleat, Repeat” by Norah Gaughan. I believe it was just published this year.”
Gaughan’s book is well worth the hardcover price of about US$24 that I paid. It’s got a few ideas that I found less than useful. But it also has two designs I think are really quite amazing and innovative.

I love everything about this design. The color, the texture that the mottled yarn creates and especially the interesting pleated front. I don’t think I’d wear it, but I’d love to knit it.
The Pinion Cowl that Jeanette suggested is a great idea as well

I truly hate the colors of this garment, but I could definitely see it in colors that appeal to me.
Which is the other thing I love about Gaughan’s book. Because it’s a great launching pad for ideas and ways to make a design my own.
Anyone else seen this? So, any thoughts?

I got distracted (again), and started a new project.

So, can you guess what it will be?
