Calling All Men

Registration for the NorthEast Men’s Fall Fiber Retreat at Easton Mountain will be opening soon, so we’re calling all men interested in this amazing community of fiber enthusiasts.

The Community Continues To Grow – Calling All Men

Do you know where the idea for a Men’s Fall Fiber Retreat at Easton Mountain came from?

It came from guys who were annoyed that they couldn’t register for the Spring retreat.

Interestingly enough, we have create two very distinct and unique communities of guys.

Yes, there is some overlap in the group of guys in the Spring and Fall. But honestly the two groups are very different in many ways. Both groups are incredibly loving and supportive of each other. But the Fall group of guys has definitely staked out their own very unique and amazing tone.

What Happens At The Fall Retreat?

There are a few differences in the two retreats. In addition to having Aaron coordinate the Fall retreat, the agenda and weather are different too.

Workshops vs. Expert Tables

At the fall retreat, instead of workshops, we ask attendees to host “Expert Tables.” Multiple expert tables take place during a 2.5 hour time slot. They are about a specific fiber-related skill or technique. There are demonstrations, handouts, opportunities for hands-on experimenting by the other attendees, etc. The expertise could be an overview of different shaped sock heels or a demonstration of card-weaving. The informal nature of the tables makes it easy for both beginner and long-time fiber-enthusiast to participate.

Roadtrip vs. Sheep & Wool Festival

We coordinate the timing of the Fall retreat to be at the same time as the Adirondack Fiber Arts Festival. The event takes place about 15 minutes from Easton Mountain. So the festival replaces the roadtrip that we schedule for the Spring retreat to a local farm or fiber mill.

Weather

Interestingly, the weather is often quite similar between the two retreats. Fall is just starting, so the weather is similar to the start of Spring for the May retreat. The trees have sometimes just started to turn colors.

If you’d like to attend the Fall retreat, just know that it has started to sell out quickly (like the Spring retreat). So register as close to when registration opens if you can. Here are the particulars:
