Audio Advice?

Sometime soon, I’ll be doing quite a bit of audio recording. Again, I’m faced with learning a whole new language. Any audio advice from readers?

Soliciting Audio Advice

When I needed to start writing this blog, I needed to learn HTML and web server utilities like File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Then I needed to start creating a web site for the Men’s Knitting Retreats. It needed an on-line registration form. So I taught myself PHP and how to interface that with PayPal.

When I realized I needed to start doing more extensive editing of photos and other images (like logos), I had to teach myself how to use complex image editing software. It was an entirely new language that I still can’t even come close to speaking fluently. Vector images and PNG images with transparent backgrounds still confound me a bit.

Now, I need to learn how to record and edit my voice. Again, an entirely new set of completely non-intuitive terms that I need to learn.

I did download a free audio-recording/editing software called Audacity. And my first attempts at recording my voice sound good to me, but I really have no idea what I’m doing. And weeding through all the YouTube advice is like hacking my way through an unknown jungle.

When I was younger, I used to aggressively pursue learning new skills. These days, I don’t have quite the same level of energy and enthusiasm for it.

Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Current Knitting

Added a few inches to the latest Slip-Stitch Blanket.

This is about eight inches of blanket, so it’s doubtful I’ll be able to make two of these in the next few weeks. But I’m loving how it’s turning out. Even if it’s only one blanket to donate in the end.

  1. Re: the second slip stitch blanket.

You could gift wrap and IOU, perhaps with a swatch. Anyone would be thrilled to go home with an IOU.
