WTF Costco?!?!

The minute I saw the display of Vör Pistachio Cream at the end of the aisle in Costco, I knew we’d be taking some home. Thaddeus purchases packaging.

WTF Costco

WTF is This Green Goop Costco?

This packaging was too good for him to pass up. So it came home with us.

When we got it home, we realized it is a goopy, sweet mix of ground pistachios and sugar and some other ingredients. Pistachio cream actually tastes quite good. But it doesn’t have the greatest eye-appeal. The Wicked-Witch-of-the-West, glossy color of it is kind of odd. But honestly, peanut butter has a kind of gross color to it too.

I had picked up a dozen croissants (I went to Costco hungry), so I tried it on a croissant. It was reminiscent of a warm almond croissant I used to get at a local French bakery here in New Hope. It was much sweeter than I expected and I honestly could barely discern the flavor of pistachio. Fortunately, the color was a good reminder of its main ingredient.

I’m not sure what Thaddeus did with the remainder of it. I think he threw it out…beautiful packaging and all.

But trust me, it won’t stop him from being compelled to purchase something new in a sleek, beautiful package next time we’re out shopping.

Current Reading

I finished Awakening The Mystic by Rob Dorgan. Overall, I thought it was very good and well worth reading. I loved the vehicle he created in a semi-autobiographical main character who helps bring the World closer to a shared view of humanity through yoga, astrology and meditation. I am very glad to have been introduced to the book by the author himself at the Retreat at Easton Mountain last month. It made the experience even more authentic for me.

I’ve just started reading A Boy’s Own Story by Edmund White and I am totally loving this book so far. White’s writing style and voice are so unique and pitch-perfect for my reading tastes.

I’ve added a widget from Goodreads in the sidebar of the blog. I’ll try to keep up my reading status on Goodreads so you can know where I am in my library of items to read. Feel free to add me as a friend on Goodreads if you’re there.

Current Knitting

I was able to finish the latest pair of socks and even took a boatload of photos to post. Or maybe I didn’t??? They weren’t on my phone this morning when I went to download them? Perhaps it’s the new IOS 26, or possibly my ineptitude. But you’ve seen plenty of pics of me modeling socks. One photo did survive.

Thanks to everyone who purchased the pattern for the socks. Your support of my work is always very much appreciated! I’d love any thoughts or feedback you have on the design or photos of your projects.

I started a few times to begin a new project. I was very eager to try using the silk and linen gradient in sport weight by Wull Studios I bought at the NJ Sheep Festival.

Failed Hitchhiker - 09-24-25 01

I started working a Hitchhiker, but decided it was way too boring for this yarn. I’ve decided to try a new pattern by NevetsKnits called Tipsy Tile Scarflet. I may make it a full-size scarf instead given there is over twice as much yarn in the cake as the pattern calls for. It may require that I weigh the yarn so I know when I’m about halfway through.
