2025 Knitters Gifts for the Holidays

Halloween is over. You must have started thinking about buying knitters gifts for the holidays. No? I don’t mean the gifts you want to give, but instead the gifts knitters want to get!
QueerJoe’s List of Knitters Gifts
So you if know/love a knitter, here are some of the things that might make them think more highly of you for having been so thoughtful.
Ten Top Gifts for Knitters
Ball winder and swift – This is always the number one gift I recommend for knitters. It was the first gift I ever received and there are so many excellent options at reasonable prices.
A gift subscription to KnitCompanion software. It’s an annual subscription of $29.99 per year for their “Setup + Essentials” software, but you may have to give an AppleStore gift card (or Google Play gift card, etc.).
A Knitter’s Trick Book and Corresponding Workbook – Patty Lyons has a great combo of brilliant knitting tricks and a workbook as a companion piece for it. New knitters and longtime knitters will both love this.
Knitting Project Bag – I have a ton of project bags, but this one I would love to receive as a gift myself.
Set of Interchangeable Knitting Needles – These vary widely in quality and range of prices. If you want something inexpensive, start with the KnitPicks set and if you want something extravagant (and worth it) order something from DyakCraft.
A Yarn Kit from your knitter’s favorite indy yarn dyer. If you need a list of my favorites. You can never go wrong with a Stephen West kits.
Needle Gauge – Knitters can NEVER find a gauge to measure their needles when they need one. An extra one is inexpensive and a thoughtful gift for any knitter you know.
Reading Glasses – Like a needle gauge, I am never in the same room as my reading glasses. If you know your knitters reading glasses strength, get them 10 pairs…they’re cheap!
Good pair of crafting scissors – perhaps I’m a broken record here, but I can never find scissors when I need them. I can never have enough.
Gift Certificate at your knitter’s favorite LYS (local yarn store). If you know where they buy their yarns, books, tools and notions, you can never go wrong with a gift certificate there.
If you could check-off your knitters from your gift list, you’ll be far ahead for gift-giving this year!
Current Knitting
I finished the latest Bindle Hat and I couldn’t be happier with the choice in brim color/ribbing.

This hat turned out to be the best one yet (in my opinion). I also started another one.

This one will be more colorful since the yarn changes are more frequent on both cakes of yarn. So far, I’m liking it a lot.

Also…
Kate Atherley’s MATH FOR KNITTERS is a new book I received. It has a wealth of very helpful math and other information. For knitting needles, interchangeable or otherwise, Addis have been my favorites for decades.
Oh, I’m loving those hats.
ChiaoGoo needles of any variety are my total jam. The new Forte interchangeables are spectacular, especially since you don’t need to purchase the entire set. I get mine online from Handsomefibers.com, an excellent, indy online shop in neighboring Cottage Grove, Oregon.
PS: the newest hat is a beauty, Joe!
Hey Fred! Thanks for the heads up about Handsome fibers. We must be neighbors as this is just south of me.
