Photographing Glass

I recently had the chance to add colored glass to a clear “blank” and then it was heated to fuse the glass together. Does anyone know how to go about photographing glass?

Photographing Glass is HARD!

I tried holding it up with sky behind it, on a white surface, on a black surface. I even tried it on a Stephen West knitting book.

First of all, I recognize that my glass fusing artistry isn’t great. I’m kinda pleased with how amateur-looking my glassing is. While it’s recognizable as a flower, my initial intention was to have it be a bright orange flower…which it is…but it looks more red and Christmassy than I’d hoped.

Regardless, the finished object is a bit nicer than the any photos I could get of it. I thought the black background showed how smoothly textured the top was. And the white background shows off how bright the finished dish is. And honestly, Stephen West just makes a complete mess of the photo.

So any photo tips for this kind of photography would be greatly appreciated.

Current Knitting

I’m on a bit of a rhythm. I finished the latest Bindle hat and started a new one.

The most recently finished hat is probably my favorite so far. Eventually I’ll post some decent photos of me wearing a hat or two.

The new hat is much more orange and I’ve finished four of the ten 8-row repeats on this one so far.
