Mouthwatering!
Such an apt word for the subject of today’s post…mouthwatering. I don’t mean to brag, but Thaddeus makes an amazing apple pie.

Mouthwatering Apple Pie
As much as I dislike the Autumn, one of the few wonderful aspects of this season is that it’s apple season. It had been a while since Thaddeus made a pie, so I asked him to make me an apple pie. I wasn’t sure if it would be “easy as pie” for him, but he said it all came back to him with ease. Even having to adapt for the amount of ice water in the pie dough.
We had a huge piece last night and it was delicious. The whipped cream was completely unnecessary.
He used Winesap apples for this pie, and they were perfect. Just the right amount of sweetness and the had the exact texture I like in the pie…not too mushy, not too firm.
I give this advice often, but get yourself a Thaddeus of your own and life will be quite amazing.

Whipping out these hats is going a bit faster as I get more efficient making Latvian braid fabric.

Yellow isn’t exactly my color, but I love how it works with the colorful Bindle hat fabric. I started another one (again!).

I think this will be the penultimate hat the I make…for now. I’ve got one more idea for the last hat that will look quite a bit different than the hats I’ve made so far.

Such a loving tribute to your husband, Joe! It’s a good week to celebrate our same-sex spouses, at least for now.
Thaddeus’ pie looks fantastic. I’m never sure which apples to get so I use a mixture of pie apples.
I have the crust curse. I try a different recipe each year, hoping to nail it. And avoid bringing out the chainsaw, jackhammer and TNT to cut the pie crust.
Best wishes for more fall, Turkey Day and apple pies!
