Many Hats

Typically when someone is a “man of many hats” it means he’s got multiple roles. In this case the expression is more literal.

A Man of LOTS of Hats

If you can consider eight recently completed hats a lot, then I am that man. It brings me back to recent years when I was building inventory for my craft shows around this time of year. I even considered how much I’d have to charge for one of these hats. It would honestly be more than they’re worth, and so I wouldn’t have sold very many of them. Which means I wouldn’t have made that many of them for sale at my craft shows. I know it’s difficult to tell, but the fabric of the hat is thick and plush and very warm. How much would you sell them for if it took you a little over 2 nights of television knitting to complete one?

Current Knitting

I finished the last two Bindle Hats.

As I noted in my last post, the hat on the right (and the hat I’m wearing) is reversible.

They’re not the same on both sides of the hat (vertical and horizontal stitching on the body of the hat), but both sides look great. This design is a perfect example of how I continue to learn new things in knitting (new to me) in many of my projects. Mostly, I’m thrilled to have learned so much about the Latvian braid. I’ve also gotten to enjoy the tubular bindoff.

  1. What fun!! 8 is definitely a lot. Especially if you consider the literal meaning of “a” “lot”: as in “Now we will auction off lot 39. Here we have a lot containing various brass candlesticks and a brass serving tray.” It is also a lot of work in the modern sense. $30? Somehow I missed that you aren’t doing the craft fairs anymore. But now that I think about it you definitely would have mentioned it by this time of year. So what will happen to your lot of hats? P.S. I love the reverse side! I always like when knitting looks sideways, scarves knit lengthwise etc.
