Passport Renewal Time!
Yes, my U.S. passport expires in May of 2026, so I want to make sure it gets processed. Passport renewal time comes earlier than it might.
It’s Passport Renewal Time for QueerJoe
With all the DOGE’ing going on in the Federal government, I’m truly grateful that you can renew a passport online (if your current passport qualifies). And goddess knows, I may need to leave the country quickly if trends continue.
If you need to renew your passport, one BIG caution…do NOT get fooled by one of the Sponsored companies offering to process your renewal. Make sure it’s a .gov URL before submitting any information online.
We had renewed Thaddeus’ passport last year, so I knew the hardest part was the photo. It has to be pretty specific or it will be rejected. Thaddeus needed to retake his photo three times. With that experience, I expected to be rejected at least once, but I was pleasantly surprised that it went through first time! I would have made some cosmetic changes, but didn’t want to have any issues.
Now we’ll see how long it takes. Hopefully online applications are more automated and will process without any issue.
Current Knitting
With the completion of the fingerless gloves, I picked up the Murky Depths Striped Pullover again. Here’s what it looked like on December 1 when I put it down and what it looks like now.
The body is getting close to being finished and then I’ll have the joy of making two sleeves. And I hide most of them for the photo shoots, but there will be a LOT of ends to weave in after it’s sewn up.
Looking good!
Our passport photos are awful. I mean the quality of the lighting etc. I was super surprised they weren’t rejected. Whew.
And just a tip in case people don’t know: your passport has to be good for 6 months after your return date. A friend found this out the hard way when he got to the airport and was denied boarding for a big trip with friends that he had done all the planning for. 😔
Hey Joe,
Mine expired in May 26 also and I renewed it a couple months ago. I submitted my application with a 4-6 week turnaround time and I had it in hand within 8 days.
Hopefully yours is equally as fast — I never like not having a valid passport in hand. I was pleasantly surprised at being able to upload a digital photo this time!
Good luck and Happy Holidays!
I just got notified that mine has been shipped already…DOGE didn’t ruin this process!
