Most Proud

Do you have a project you’ve made about which you’re most proud? For me, it wasn’t the most difficult or complex, but it is the one I take pride in wearing.

Most Proud Of Tilt Cardigan

Many of my projects had learning opportunities and I’m so glad to have made them. But none more so than the Tilt Cardigan by Lisa Richardson. There were a lot of challenges with this project. First of all, the yarn used in the project had been discontinued, so it took some searching to find the yarn to complete the project. Then I come to find out the pattern calls for knitting it flat, in pieces. Stranded knitting that’s knit back and forth is complex enough. When the two yarns are similar enough in tone, it’s very difficult to follow the pattern charts. Then I realize that the pattern calls for the ribbing to come all the way up to the pockets in the front.

I ended up modifying both the design and they way it was knit. I even modified the yarn by plying a thin, darker yarn with the darker of the two yarns so I could distinguish it better from the other yarn.

But after it was finished, it was the perfect sweater for me. I loved the shape and the fit so much, that I have designed two more cardigans using the same shaping and shawl collar.

What’s your proudest accomplishment in fiberwork?

I was able to get a few more rounds added to the latest thermal crochet hat.

These two photos show both sides of the hat. It’s striped on side and single-colorway on the reverse.

But I’m going to have to put this project on hold for the rest of the week, while I finish a bespoke Melt the ICE Hat for someone.

I’ve only got a couple of inches finished on this one so far. I need to finish it by this Friday afternoon.

Time to focus!
