No Kings
This past weekend Thaddeus and I attended our first No Kings gathering. It was cold and breezy but very well-attended.
No Kings in New Hope
The march was very local. It started one block from the Delaware River in Lambertville, NJ. It went over the free bridge and marched to the New Hope High School.

The weather made it perfect to wear our Melt the ICE hats. There were many excellent signs and a ton of enthusiasm for ousting the POS currently occupying the White House. There were about 3,000 locals who marched in this demonstration. I’m glad we could be part of this growing enthusiasm for a just cause.
Readers’ Comments/Questions
About my latest hat (see below), Fred writes:
“Joe, those eight diagonal traveling stitches make all the difference in your latest hat adventure. I very much like cabled hats, including your lovely white invention; your improvisation is like magic to me. Are you familiar with Benjamin Matthews delightful amalgam of what he calls beanies?“
I follow Benjamin on social media, so I’ve seen his beanies before, but I had no idea how prolific he was. Beautiful work.
Thanks to everyone offering encouragement on baking a chocolate cake. I think I’ll stick with buying cakes in the future. It might not be as satisfying, but it’s foolproof now that I have a couple of sources for very good cakes.
Current Knitting
I was able to finish the latest QueerJoe’s Simple Hat (with modification) in Noro Kureopatora and Plymouth Gina yarns.

I only have one complaint with this hat. My favorite color-combination section of it gets covered over by the fold-over section of the brim.

It’s not for me anyway. So perhaps someone will love the colors that aren’t covered over. Overall, I’m quite pleased with how I could finally use the Kureopatora yarn in way that looks great.
I also decided to try out Meredith’s obsession and make a Honey Cowl.

I have two colors of a silk/wool blend yarn from Manos del Uruguay that I thought would be perfect. So I cast on for the smaller size cowl. Since I’ve only finished about five inches so far, I won’t make any declarations about it yet. But stay tuned!
