What’s Next?

The intense focus of finishing legacy knitting was enjoyable. With the current cowl project and the two vests finished, what’s next?

What’s Next!?!? A Never-Ending Stream Most Likely

Unfortunately, in this case, the answer is rather mundane. I need to knit up a few swatches for a workshop I’m leading in May at the Men’s Spring Knitting Retreat. Lots of 1×1 ribbing. I want to demonstrate how standard 1×1 ribbing can be affected in multiple ways and what better way of doing that than having a visual example?

I’ve also been doing a significant amount of work on the Men’s Knitting Retreat website. I’ve never been very talented at digital design. My efforts always seem ordinary looking when I’m finished. And often when I can envision something more appealing looking, I don’t have the technical skills to create it. I’m quite pleased with what I’ve done in the last week or so. There’s been an amazing revitalization of excitement in the men’s knitting retreats, and I wanted the website to reflect that.

Finally, I’ve had an idea in my head for another episode of Knitting with QueerJoe that I need to sit down and plan and record. Primarily it will be about interchangeable needle sets and some of the unique tricks you can do with them in your knitting.

Current Knitting

As noted above, I finished the Honey Cowl in the silk/wool from Manos del Uruguay.

I will most likely make more of these using the same yarn. I love everything about this design. With the great tip to make it using helical knitting techniques, it knits up nicely. I also love the softness and drape of the silk and wool yarn.

Now onto doing a lot of ribbing and then recording a video.

  1. Hi Joe
Hope you are well. Your piece on legacy knitting amused me. I have 20 x 65 litre boxes of yarn acquired since I first came to Easton Mountain in 2015. On present estimates that’s three lifetimes of yarn to get through. Time to streamline or just back myself from all future yarn shopping?

    Take care

    Phil

  2. Your Honey Cowl is gorgeous! Careful thou, it’s an addictive pattern. I’m on number 14 (or so). luckily, they’re giftable and much loved by recipients.
