Double Tagging - Nametag Flash 04-27-26 01

Double Tagging

Tagging all the attendees at the Men’s Knitting Retreat works out really well. So I figure double tagging them all would be awesome.

Wasn’t Too Sure About Double Tagging

Ever since the first Men’s Knitting Retreat 18 years ago, the guys have always been very cooperative about wearing name tags. For years we used to include their Ravatar and a thumbnail photo of the attendee on their printed name tag. The first time we ever met as a group, the Ravelry image they had on their profile was the only visual idea of who they were. In the last few years, Ravelry has become less important in terms of coordinating the community and having an image of the person wearing the name tag seemed completely unnecessary. So in the last few years, we’ve simplified the name tag.

I was chatting with a friend who organizes retreats completely unrelated to knitting. She mentioned that they allow the attendees to add “flash” to their name tags. So I’ve compiled a list of 64 phrases that guys at the retreat may want to add to the bottom of their name tag.

I was dubious about how interested the guys would be. But when I posted about it, they all seemed excited about the idea. If it turns out to be a fun idea in practice then I continue it in the September retreat.

Current Knitting

Current project is using the same two yarns to make another QueerJoe Simple Hat except on smaller needles. Denser fabric and slightly smaller.

I’m also doing two helical stripes of the darker yarn and one stripe of the more pastel colored yarn.

I’m also going to need to knit up a few swatches this week (in preparation for my ribbing workshop at the retreat).

Hopefully the workshop will be a lot more exciting than the images of swatches here on the blog.

  1. Just a cursory glance at the new tags and I’m very much enjoying the delight. You go, Joe and all the Retreat Daddies! Or Good Yarn Boys. Or …
