At First Glance
I was surprised that at first glance, the last two hats I made look like the same hat. I purposely tried to make them different.
A First Glance Might Require a Second Glance
“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man,” is attributed to the ancient Greek philosopher
– Heraclitus of Ephesus
Today I am reminded to be present. Reminded to be as deliberately aware as I can be. On this first day of May, my life is getting busier and busier with many tasks that I love doing. I want to experience them all as fully as I can. Someone who I consider to be a spiritual counselor was always reminding me that everything in our lives is an opportunity to be more awake. As I took the photo of the two hats that I most recently knit, I took it as an opportunity to do just that.
As I type this, I am brimming with aliveness. Even with all the many tasks I have running through my head that I need to get done today, I am enjoying the frenetic energy. Also, I am enjoying the joy that each task brings as it comes to mind.
I have to get ready to go to Costco in a little while. I have to add a couple of guys to the list of men arriving for early/extra days to the retreat in a couple of weeks. On the first of every month I also do a retirement budget update. Busy and happy. That’s my sweet spot.
How are you this fine, first day of May?

As you can tell from my feature photo, I did finish the second hat.

It is slightly smaller than the first hat. It’s also a bit darker in tone (just a little bit). While not my typically my colors, I love this last hat.
I also got more work done on my workshop swatch.

I need to do a few more swatches, so that’s what I’ll be working on and taking much joy from doing so.

It’s May Day, and I’m not shopping.
Brava, Elaine!
Joe, the crown of your new hat as pictured on the right so beautifully features the varied colorways in the yarn. As I’m highly susceptible to pattern envy, I need to check out your pattern. Happy May to all!
