I Spend Half My Life
It’s like that common meme on social medial. I spend half my life untangling balls of yarn on multi-color knitting or crochet projects.
I Spend Half My Life…What’s Yours?
The most recent time I saw this meme, it was someone who spent half their life telling people how to pronounce their last name. I don’t have that issue. And honestly untangling balls of yarn doesn’t take anywhere near that amount of my life. However, if you add in picking cat hair out of yarn projects so I can take a photo of it for my blog in addition to untangling balls of yarn – well that might be a bit closer to reality.
Look at the photos below of my work-in-progress. Yes, I had to untangle the balls of yarn. I also had to pick out quite a bit of cat hair. I even had to do quite a bit of retouching on the photos to remove MORE cat hair. But even with all the futzing I do with my yarn-projects, it’s still no where near half my life.
The meme seems to indicate an annoyance with a task that takes up a disproportionate amount of one’s time. But honestly, I get a bit obsessed with re-arranging balls of yarn and picking out cat hair. I kind of enjoy it.
Current Obsession
Whenever I split my time between two projects, they always go a bit more slowly. But I have still made quite a bit of progress on both. The thermal crochet beanie is moving along.

I’m not overly fast at crochet so I’m pleased with this amount of progress. I also find these hats incredibly enjoyable to make.
I’m also pleased with how quickly the Falkland fiber from Dirty Girl Yarn is spinning up.

I had basically just split the braid of roving into two sections. I finished spinning the first half of the braid and I’ve made a bit of progress on the second half. It’s beautiful fiber to spin and I’m looking forward to using it to make another hat when it’s finished.
