My social media is filled with rainbows and wishes of happy pride on this first day of June. Fortunately my yarn crafting fits right in.

Happy Pride Month 2026

Urth yarns has a line of self-striping yarns in a colorway called Harmony that is perfect for Pride month. At least for the next few blog posts, I’ll have photos of a rainbow project.

While the Stonewall riot took place in 1969, gay protests had been happening since at least 1964. And they couldn’t have summed it up better than with the word Pride.

Writing a blog called QueerJoe for so many years, I hope it’s obvious that I feel a lot of pride about who I am. So I won’t be doing anything special this month to celebrate. But I will continue to demonstrate pride in all that I do.

Current Crochet/Spinning

I had a hank of Harmony yarn from Urth in a worsted weight. I found a great orange (Glazed Carrot, I think) in Malabrigo Rios, so I’m doing a reversible hat.

On one side, you can display the vibrant rainbow stripes and turn it inside-out and you can go out in the woods with less fear of being shot by a hunter.

I was also able to finish plying up the Falkland fiber from Dirty Girl Yarn.

I’m quite pleased with how it turned out (yes, even proud!), although I’m not yet sure what I’ll do with it.
