Best Tip For Weaving in Ends

Six years ago, I published a YouTube tutorial on how to weave in ends. The video describes why using a long needle is useful and also why a sharp pointed needle helps secure in yarn ends. At the time I recorded the video, I only had short, pointy needles or long, blunt needles. Then I found longer, pointy needles with a large enough eye to thread yarn through.

I think I found these needles on eBay. Since I had bought out the entire available inventory from this seller, I didn’t mention it in the blog.

The initial intention was to include these needles in the thank-you bags for workshop leaders or Expert Table leaders at the retreats, but I didn’t have enough to give them a whole package of four needles. And I couldn’t find an appropriate container so I could separate them. Temu to the rescue. I found these needles on Temu:

They work great too. The eye is big enough to take this worsted-weight yarn and the point is sharp enough to split the knitted yarn when I’m weaving in ends (which I describe in the video as important to securing them as well as possible).

The Expert Table leaders at the retreat in three weeks will be getting their own little test-tube with three different sizes of pointy needles.

I don’t know why this excites me as much as it does but I love that I’ve been able to find these needles that come in the perfect containters!

Current Knitting

Using the same main color of yarn as the bias-striped scarf I finished earlier this week, I started a new vertical-stripe scarf.

The main color is CeCe’s Superwash Merino yarn in a colorway called Stained Glass and the more pastel colorway yarn is Malabrigo Mecha in colorway 866, Arco Iris. The scarf is about thirty percent complete and I’m liking it quite a bit.
