USPS Informed Delivery

Having the post office notify me (via USPS Informed Delivery) that items will be arriving in my mail today is a useful tool. Except when I see this.

USPS Informed Delivery – IRS Mail

No one wants to see a letter from the IRS in their mailbox. Or in their notification email of items that will be arriving that day.

When I saw that there would be something for me from the IRS in today’s mail, I groaned. “What fresh hell is this.” I muttered.

Usually it shows me catalogs or advertisements for Andersen Windows.

As it turns out, today’s IRS letter was just to inform me that someone had accessed my online IRS account using ID.me and if it was me (it was) then I could just ignore the letter.

There was no audit, no letter saying I owed some imaginary $150,000. There was no crisis…this time.

But it won’t stop me from worrying the next time I get notified that a letter from the IRS will be arriving in the mail.

Current Knitting

For those of you who couldn’t figure out my current project from Friday’s blog entry, it was an Activity Cap.

A few things I’ll say about this project. I really love this design. I based the shaping of this hat on the 1898 Hat pattern by Kristine Byrnes because I really wanted a hat that covered my ears. I was also hoping to create a hat that I could wear under my bicycle helmet on cold days.

The Activity Cap pattern is really a pattern for a double-layered, ear-covering headband with a cap added to the top of it. It’s been a while since I’ve made one of these and I was glad the pattern was so well-written (if I do say so myself). I had a few folks test-knit the design and their feedback was very useful in publishing a good pattern.

For those of you who prefer reverse stockinette, this latest version of the Activity Cap is completely reversible.

This knit up very quickly, so I decided to start a new one.

The double-layer fabric section of the hat will be mottled black/grey on one side and multi-colored on the other. Not sure what color the cap will be since I’m using up yarn remnants to make it.

  1. What a lovely pattern. It’s so lovely, in fact, that I went to Ravelry to purchase it only to find it’s already in my library and I vaguely remember making one but have no record of it. I guess this will be next on my “knitting group” queue for sending to Ukraine or the local food pantry/clothing outlet. I got the same letter from the IRS Saturday and finding it was just that was a huge relief.

    1. LESLIE! You’re here! I’ve been thinking about you on a regular basis, Woman! So, so glad to see your comment! Let’s be back in touch, please.
