Finally I Can Wish Readers A Happy Inauguration Day!
Again, I have found that I’ve been holding my breath until today. Or at least not realizing how anxious I have been about the crazy shit-show the MAGA assholes have been putting on. With “Dear Leader” inciting them to do their worst.
But today isn’t about them. It’s about us! It’s about starting to heal. Starting to rebuild and hopefully make this country better than it was 4.001 years ago. I recognize we have a lot of work to do. But it’s work I’m enthusiastic about doing.
Even in a pandemic, this celebration was more than I could have hoped for. Lady Gaga made me cry with joy at her exuberance. Having someone sign/say the Pledge of Allegiance didn’t even bother me. I can ignore the “under god” part.
I do have to keep reminding myself of what normal expectations are of a White House administration. It feels like I’ve got a bit of Stockholm Syndrome. Don’t get me wrong, I’d never sympathize, but I have lowered my standards. And find myself worrying if President Biden will make sane choices.
Onward and upward.

I watched the inaugeration on the BBC with a sense of relief, everything went smoothly and you know who is probably on a Florida golf course somewhere. Onwards and upwards indeed, for America and all of us.
Yes! Every morning for the past four years I’ve watched the late night host’s monologues. Not for laughs, but for some bit of relief. This morning they are just funny. I’m hopeful today.
I’m with you. Big sigh of relief.
On the other hand… In almost every horror movie the villain never dies with the first attempt. I keep thinking something “ugly” will appear again.
